Can a mere song change people’s minds….I doubt that it is so…But a song can infiltrate your heart and your heart may change your mind – Credit to Elvis Costello.
The approach that the learning process is a blend of curiosity and caution while the performing process treads on grounding and zest makes the journey unravel itself one step at a time….”Ars longa vita brevis”

Taking to the stage...
Purva as a precocious kid of two, rattled the entire rendition of Nama Ramayana, Hanuman Chalisa and other lengthy slokas as rendered by the nightingale, Smt M.S.Subbulakshmi.
Friends recall that as a kid of four years of age, Purva Dhanashree Cotah would sit through 5 hour classical concerts without stirring whatsoever, totally absorbed.
Paavani Cotah, younger by six years to Purva, grew up listening to classical music from her infant days. By the age of five, Paavani could sing an entire Pancharatna kriti, pitch perfect with admirable musicality.
Purva and Paavani had their initial years in the US but have grown up in the enriching scene of Chennai’s musical atmosphere in the ensuing years.

Musical Lineage - Acharyas & Gurus
Purva had her initial learning from Sri P.B Srirangachari (Disciple of Sri T.N.Seshagopalan) for vocal while Paavani had her initial learning from Smt Akhila Siva (mother of Sri Vijay Siva).
Both subsequently enrolled under senior Vidushi Smt. Kalyani Shankar, for both vocal and violin. Additionally, they find inspiration and mentorship from Sri Rajaram Sundararajan, the grandnephew of Sri BV Raman and Sri BV Lakshmanan.
Purva and Paavani’s musical flair extends beyond their training, as evidenced by their collaborations with Sri Kuldeep Pai, Madrasana, Sound Creed etc., earning them critical acclaim and a devoted fan base. Purva’s unhurried raga delineation reflects the years with many illustrious Acharyas as part of the Diploma programme from the Advanced School of Music from the prestigious Music Academy. Paavani shot to fame with the productions of Sri Kuldeep Pai, particularly “Saraswati Namostute” and then she went on to do the much acclaimed “Kanada Raza Pandaricha” alongside her sister, in addition to other releases on YouTube.
Spreading the joy of music across cities
The duo have performed across Andhra Pradesh, TamilNadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Maharashtra etc and are thankful for an eager rasika base in India and abroad.
